NOTICE: The DRAFT Erosion Control Manual has been recently updated. The current draft date is March 2012. A Public Review period of this new draft is commencing April 10, 2012. Several minor changes have been completed, as well as revisions related to changes in State of Arizona and federal requirements, and are described on the Revisions page within the document. This review period is scheduled to extend through close of business on April 27, 2012.
The objective of the Drainage Design Manual, Erosion Control, is to provide guidance to agencies, municipalities, developers, property owners, engineers, contractors and others involved with construction events as a means to comply with the
Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES)
- or the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination
System (NPDES) when seeking permit coverage within Tribal Lands
- stormwater permitting process for construction activities. Specifically, this document provides guidance on how to comply with the AZPDES (and NPDES) General Permit for discharges from regulated construction activities.
The DRAFT Erosion Control Manual does not include any agency-specific policies and standards. It only contains technical guidance.
The EFFECTIVE Erosion Control Manual (January 1, 1993) is no longer in effect. The most current draft manual is specifically identified for use within Maricopa County jurisdiction. Also, for purposes of obtaining a drainage clearance, Maricopa County Planning and Development Services (P&D) has adopted use of the 2009 draft Erosion Control Manual, as stated on the P&D web site at: http://www.maricopa.gov/planning/BuildingServices/DrainageReviewRequest.aspx.
The current draft of the manual will be forwarded to the Flood Control District Board of Directors for adoption as soon as possible after close of the current public review period.
Please address comments and questions to Matthew Oller of the Flood Control District at (602) 506-4663 or mao@mail.maricopa.gov.
