Correctional Health Services only approves eyeglasses that are determined to be medically necessary.
If the patient feels they need distance eyeglasses, family members or friends can pre-pay for an eye exam. The cost of an eye exam includes one pair of eyeglasses.
Click on Eyeglass Payment Information Form to start the process. You will prompted for the patient’s:
- Name
- Date of Birth (DOB)
- Booking Number
Within 24 hours of submitting the online form, you will be sent an email with a transaction ID and an online payment link. You will be required to provide the transaction ID when submitting payment. An eye exam will be scheduled once payment is received.
Eye care supplies, including reading glasses and contact lens solution, are available from the canteen. Reading glasses are available to those with indigent status. This item can be requested from MCSO. Reading glasses, replacement contact lenses or supplies, and glasses made outside the jail can be brought by someone outside the jail. The patient must submit an Inmate Request Form to the Jail Commander to get permission to have these items brought in. Only eyeglasses with plastic frames and lenses and contact supplies in sealed containers will be allowed. Detention must approve any items brought from outside the jail, even if permission has been granted from the Jail Commander.
