PHOENIX, Ariz. – October 1, 2019 – The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors will look to appoint a new County Attorney this week, less than a month after officially accepting Bill Montgomery’s resignation.
Here is the timeline of events:
Tuesday, October 1
The seven-member Citizen Advisory Committee will make its public recommendations to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. This will happen at 4 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Conference Room at 301 W. Jefferson St. (10th Floor), Phoenix. The recommendations come after the committee spent the past two weeks conducting interviews and reviewing resumes, letters of recommendation, and questionnaires from the eight candidates who applied for the position.
Wednesday, October 2
The Board of Supervisors will meet in executive session to discuss the County Attorney vacancy. Part of this discussion will include the Citizen Advisory Committee.
Wednesday, October 2 OR Thursday, October 3
The Board will look to appoint a new County Attorney in a special public meeting on either Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. This would happen in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at 205 W. Jefferson St., Phoenix. Time TBD. The new County Attorney would be present at this meeting and sworn into office following the announcement. Members of the public or media interested in attending should follow Maricopa County on Twitter for updates. We will do our best to provide ample time for those wishing to attend.
